Indian Passport Renewal Process for NRIs in UAE
Indian citizens residing in the UAE must renew their passport before its expiry to continue using it for travel and legal purposes.
Indian passport renewal in the UAE is handled through 16 outsourced Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) managed by Alhind Tours & Travels, w.e.f. 22nd July 2026.
Guidelines & Basic Requirement for Submission of Passport Application
- Passport can be renewed within one year before the date of expiry.
- Any Changes/Corrections to be amended in the passport should be accompanied with documentary evidence request letter with proper explanation required.
- Any change in particulars like spouse name endorsement, address change or any correction in passport bio page details, the service to be availed is “Reissue of New Passport”.
- If passport is valid for more than one year, but has less than 5 blank pages in the passport.
- If applicant is having a recently issued passport which is not older than 6 months and if they want to apply for any kind of services other than MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES, needs to get prior approval from Embassy of India Abu Dhabi / Consulate General of India – Dubai
- A Passport expired for more than 6 months up-to 5 year should be supported by a request letter explaining the circumstances and the reasons for late renewal. If passport expired for more than 5 year then request letter with proper explanation and prior approval required from Embassy of India – Abu Dhabi / Consulate General of India – Dubai
- Original Passport need to be submitted for all kind of services.
- Applicants holding short validity passports in which Place of Issue, Place of Birth or Permanent Address is from J & K, Srinagar or Nagaland processing time will be Minimum 5 Working Days and no TATKAL Service.
Indian Passport renewal process
Step 1: Online Passport Renewal Application
- Register and fill online passport application form https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/gpsp/AuthNavigation/Login (Form Filling services are available in the ICAC center)
- Download & print the application form.
Step 2: Book an Appointment with ICAC
- All applicants can book prior appointments at https://consularsevainuae.com/
- The appointments will be released at 9 AM and 9 PM daily.
- Select your preferred center, date and time& submit the online application.
Step 3: Prepare Required Documents
- Current Passport in original with clear photocopy (of first, last, address page (if separate page), any other endorsement pages, Valid UAE visa page) and additional booklets Original, if any.
- 2 recent clear photos (not older than three months, no uniform) with white background and DARK DRESS with frontal view. Eyes open, Ears, forehead & chin to be completely visible, no shadows on the face and neck, no reflections on the glasses).
Step 4: Document Submission at ICAC
- All applicants should submit the application in person for identification (Including minors and new born babies).
- A receipt will be issued upon submission. Please retain it for future reference, tracking and passport collection.
- Pay the fees (fees as of July 2026)
- Normal passport (36-page booklet) – 477 AED
- Govt fee 450 AED
- Alhind Service Charge – 19 AED
- Indian Community Welfare Fund – 8 AED
- Tatkal passport (36-page booklet) – 927 AED
- Govt fee 900 AED
- Alhind Service Charge – 19 AED
- Indian Community Welfare Fund – 8 AED
- Normal passport (36-page booklet) – 477 AED
Note: Tatkal service is only for emergencies (loss, damage, or urgent travel needs).
Step 5: Processing Time & Collection
- Normal processing: 2 to 30 days
- Tatkal (Urgent) processing: Min 2 working days
- You can track the status of your passport on ICAC website or Passport seva website.
- The new passport can be collected from ICAC canter in person or delivered by post
